Srinagar, Aug 31 (KNO): In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the political parties in Kashmir have hired over 400 vehicles including buses and minicabs for the campaigning. President of the Transporter Association in Kashmir, Shabbir Ahmed Matta, in an exclusive conversation with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) confirmed the pre-booking of the buses and mini-cabs. Matta said, “Several political parties have hired over 300 buses to ferry political workers in the campaign rallies.” Meanwhile, President of the Sumo Stand in Pohru Nowgam, Gulzar Ahmad said they have been requested to provide support of 30 to 40 mini-cabs for political rallies. “Each vehicle will be paid Rs 1500 a day, except for the fuel expenses,” Ahmad said. Similarly, President of Pantha Chowk mini-cab stand Zahoor Ahmad Shah confirmed that it has received a demand of pre-booking of more than 50 vehicles for the political rallies. “We have fixed a price of Rs 1200 to Rs 1500 per vehicle per day, in addition to the petrol costs,” he added. Meanwhile, the daily commuters have expressed concern over the matter, saying that hiring a huge number of buses will cause inconvenience to them. “The move will badly impact our travel plans and the diversion of vehicles for political rallies will disrupt the daily passengers,” said one of the daily commuters—(KNO)
